We recently spent two weeks in Hawaii on both the Big Island and Kauai with the majority of the days visiting different beaches. I really enjoyed having everything that we needed in our beach bag and I did not have to worry about forgetting something on our way out the door.
Below is everything that we had packed in our beach bag for an amazing day at the beach:
Beach Bag Essentials
Snorkel
We all really loved the full-face snorkel masks. They are easier to breathe in and so do not get water in through the snorkel. We felt like the mask was clear to look through and we did not have any water leaking in.
However, be sure to read the safety guidelines because these masks are not recommended for freediving and are best used in shallow water.
Water Shoes
There are several beaches in Hawaii where you need to have water shoes because the beach or water is rocky. We really liked these shoes, however, I do recommend sizing up.
Beach Towels
I absolutely loved these beach towels – sand does not stick to them, they are oversized and lightweight, they dry quickly, and fold up small! They can also be used as a cover-up. I think we will always travel with at least one of these towels because they could also be used as a picnic blanket, a light blanket, or any number of things.
Dry Bag
I loved having a dry bag to keep items like our car keys and wallets dry while near the water. This was also great to have when we went out on a canoe to keep our towels dry during a sudden downpour.
Reef-Safe Sunscreen
When visiting Hawaii, you have to use reef-safe sunscreen to protect the reefs and wildlife.
Reusable Water Bottles
Bringing water to the beach is essential. I love having a reusable water bottles because they keep your water cooler and you can reduce your use of plastic by using a water refill station.
Sunglasses and/or Hat
Protect your eyes with sunglasses and/or a hat. I like to keep a pair in my beach bag so that I always have a pair with me.
