S does many, many paintings a day so I am always looking for new ways to display her art. Displaying her art is important to me. I want her to have pride in her work, to build her confidence and to know that her art is treasured. I thought that we would try to turn her paintings into something different.
These paintings were so very colorful! She had painted several layers on the paper over the course of about a week. It was fun to watch her walk by her paintings, stop and quickly add more paint before continuing on her original course.
Taking a spin on the newest trend with triangles, we cut up some of her paintings that she had done on regular printer paper. We cut the painting into one inch squares and then cut the squares in half from corner to corner to form triangles.
We cut down a piece of white card stock to 8×10 the size of our frame. Then we adhered the triangles onto the paper. We had fun with the pattern and design – making each row different. To add additional texture to her piece of art, we used the sewing machine to stitch down the center of the triangles.
Yes, S helped me! She pushed on the peddle while I guided the paper through the machine.
Don’t want to try triangles? How about hearts, circles or squares? All of them would work and look beautiful!
A new piece of art ready to hang in S’s room!

This is such a great idea. My son is constantly drawing and painting too. I have a hard time displaying all of his work, but we do keep a lot of it on the wall. Then we place some in folders too.
