S loves to paint; well truthfully she loves all things arts and crafts. So when I asked her if she wanted to make Valentine’s Day cards using watercolors she jumped at the chance.
Supplies
White Cardstock
Watercolor Paints
Heart Punch or Scissors
Sentiment Stamp
Glue/Foam Dots
Pen
There really is no wrong way to make cards. S painted on the cardstock with the watercolors. She started out using only reds, pinks and purples but then moved onto other colors. When the painting was dry, S cut out a heart from white cardstock and then stamped a sentiment on it. She attached the heart using a foam dot so that it is slightly lifted off the painting. If you do not have foam dots, elmers glue or a glue stick would also work.
We used our watercolor cards for Valentine’s Day, but they would also be wonderful as thank you notes or birthday cards if you used different sentiments.
I love S’s note on the back that says “I love you as much as all the snowflakes in the world”. Me too sweetie!
Nothing says I love you as much as a card made by that special someone.

I love this! I already have all the told I need to do this with Hamp. Since it is raining today, this may be the perfect activity to keep him busy. π
I hope you survived staying inside with Hampton! I know it can be so hard!
S has the most fun with arts and crafts. Her card is precious! Homemade is always better!
I think so too! Thanks Shirley!
My little class is having a Valentine’s Day party and I cannot wait to have them make cute cards for their parents.
Your class is going to have so much fun making cards for their parents! Great fun!
What a lovely idea for Valentine’s cards. The finished card was so pretty, too. (And what a sweet message on the back of the card!)
Thanks Trish! I especially love the sweet message too!
Her artistry is absolutely beautiful! I love her watercolor card creations.
Thank you Kim!
I would have to frame S’s artwork. It’s beautiful! What a fun Valentine’s Day card. I like your idea of making thank you cards, too.
We do have a lot of artwork hanging from the wall π Her cards turned out so much better than the ones I made along side her!
Yet another fun and creative kids craft activity! I’m pinning this to do with my children, who love to do anything with art and crafts!
Thanks so much! I hope your children enjoy, Sarah!
Your little one is ALWAYS doing the coolest stuff!! I love how involved you are π #supercoolmom Thank you for sharing Paris!
Thanks so much Nancy! We have a lot of fun at our house.
These are really cute, this is even a craft an adult would enjoy.
So true Sarah! I was painting along with S but I think her’s turned out so much better than mine π
Hello!! Just wanted to let you know I will be using this in a round up (posting soon) from the Teach Me Tuesday party! Very much appreciate you linking up with us π
Thank you so much!
Paris, I love this idea. My girls are in a Great Artist Program at school and this week they are learning about watercolors. I may have them do this at home before they practice at school to give them the opportunity to practice. Thank you for linking up at Snickerdoodle. I hope to see you next week!
That sounds like an awesome program. It’s nice to hear about schools that still promote art! I hope your girls have fun learning about watercolors!
I love the card. My kids have not made their cards to their daddy yet. Hope you all have a Happy Valentines Day and thanks for sharing over at the Snickerdoodle Sunday.
Thank you Felicia! Happy Valentine’s Day!
