Embarkment day is such an exciting day…your vacation is here!!! Taking full advantage of embarkment day will not only start your cruise off on a good foot but also allows you to maximize your fun! Below are my favorite tips for making the most out of embarkment day.
1. Select Earliest Port Arrival Time
When you complete your online check-in, be sure to choose the earliest port arrival time that is available. Your port arrival time is the time that you are supposed to arrive at the port terminal and the boarding group number is when you can board the ship.
2. Review the Onboard Activities in the DCL App
When you check in at the port, you can access the Disney Cruise Line app and see the hours of operation of restaurants, pools, and shops. It also tells you all the scheduled activities that are happening around the ship including movies and character appearances during your cruise.
3. Lunch at Sit Down Restaurant
My family prefers to have lunch at the sit-down restaurant that is open because it is quieter than the buffet on the top deck. Which restaurant is open will vary depending on the ship you are on. The DCL App should tell you which restaurant is open or ask a cast member when you board.
4. Drop Off Your Carry-on
If it is after 1:30 pm, your stateroom should be ready and you can drop off your carry-on baggage.
5. Ride the Waterslides/Swim in the Pool
Now is the time to ride the waterslides, ride the AquaDunk, AquaDuck or AquaMouse, and/or swim in the pool. These attractions will be less busy and it is the perfect time to experience them.
6. Unpack Right Away
I love to unpack all my luggage right away because then I have everything in the right spot at the start of the cruise. With all your luggage stored under the bed, this will make your stateroom more spacious.
Have a wonderful cruise! Tell me what your tips are for embarkment day!

Thanks for this post! I am a Disneyland freak and am wanting to go on a Disney cruise next – I’m bookmarking this for when that day comes! 🙂
