Straight out of Holland smack dab in the middle of Texas are tulip fields waiting to be explored.
Have you ever wanted to visit the tulip fields in Holland or the Netherlands? Did you know that you don’t have to take an international flight to see amazing tulip fields? Texas Tulips have two farms in Texas one located near Dallas and their new field near San Antonio! Both locations are u pick farms.
We visited the location outside of San Antonio over the weekend and had a blast! The fields were filled with beautiful tulips of all different colors which made them the perfect spot to take all the Instagram photos.
The fields are planted so that different tulips will be blooming throughout the season which depending on the year could be the end of February or the beginning of March for San Antonio. Be sure to check the Texas Tulips’ website or social media accounts to stay up to date on when the fields are open and when the season will end. The San Antonio location opens earlier than the Dallas location due to the temperature and weather.
All the Details
It costs $5 per person to enter the farm and then $2.50 per tulip stem that you pick.
Check the weather before your visit because you may want to wear wellies (rain boots) for mud.
There are baskets at the end of the rows of tulips and at the front for holding your tulips as you pick them. The basket also makes for a wonderful prop for photos while in the fields.
To pick your tulips, grab the stem near the ground and pull straight up. The bulb should stay in the ground and you get a nice long stem.
After you pick your tulips, the farm will place your tulip ends in gel and wrap them in tissue paper for the trip home.
