I LOVE dessert! I am a total sweets person and I really enjoy when I can make my dessert skinny.
You can switch out the red velvet cake mix in this recipe for another flavor. We used to use vanilla cake mix, but I am so happy that we tried the Red Velvet because it was SO GOOD!
This recipe is also super easy to make and in 20 minutes you have homemade ice cream. You scream, I scream, we all scream for ice cream ๐
{Skinny} Red Velvet Cake Ice Cream
3/4 cup sugar
2/3 cup Red Velvet Cake Mix
2 cups Fat Free Half and Half
1 cup Fat Free Milk
Whisk all the ingredients together and then add to your ice cream machine. I let my ice cream machine run for 20 minutes before we enjoy our ice cream. Tip: Make sure to keep your cold ingredients in the fridge and your frozen ice cream insert in the freezer until you are ready to use.
Note: The ice cream will hold it’s shape better once you freeze it.
I place my leftovers in a covered plastic container and freeze.
My son’s favorite cake is red velvet so he’d probably love this icecream!
I hope he does!
You had me at red velvet!

I must get an ice cream maker. This looks incredible, I wonder how many calories per serving?
Amanda, when I made this recipe I was concerned with the fat content from the Heavy Cream and Whole Milk which is what the usual ice cream recipes called for! For this recipe I calculated the fat and calories out and for a 1/2 cup serving it is 1.3g fat and 142 calories. If you wanted to reduce the calories further you could probably use a sugar substitute, however I have never used them in ice cream so I don’t know what the results would be. I hope you try the recipe out and thank you for stopping by.
