A look at the Pop Century Resort on Walt Disney World and why your family should consider staying at this value resort in the middle of the magic.
Our go-to resort at Disney World for the past several years has been the Pop Century Resort. The way that we vacation at Disney World makes Pop Century Resort a good choice because 1) we do not spend a lot of time in our room, so size does not matter; 2) we still get all the benefits of staying onsite; 3) not as many school groups as at the other value resorts and 4) it’s one of the least expensive hotel onsite. And now the resort is on the Skyliner route which means you can take an aerial gondola to Hollywood Studios and Epcot.
It’s a value resort, therefore we can spend more days at Disney World on vacation then if we would stay at a more expensive hotel. For more tips on affording a trip to Disney World check out part 1 and part 2 my series.
Pop Century Resort features everything that you need to have a great vacation! It’s onsite which means you have the benefits of Extra Magic Hours, complimentary transportation to and from the parks, and resort delivery of your in-park souvenir purchases (when you make a purchase at a Disney World Park you are able to send your package back to your hotel and then you can pick it up in the gift shop).
Pop Century Resort Rooms
The resort has recently been updated including the rooms which now have a mid-century modern feel. The beds are raised which is the perfect place to store your suitcases during your visit. The new laminate flooring helps the room feel sleek and clean.
Pop Century Resort has a wonderful selection of amenities including three pools plus the splash area for younger kids. They have activities by the pool throughout the day including a pool party and movie night. The resort also includes a fabulous food court. You can get a wide selection of food at the food court – anything from rotisserie chicken to chicken stir fry to pizza to sandwiches to hamburgers to fried fish. They also have a grab-and-go section with fresh fruit and desserts. The resort is known for its tie-dye cheesecake, but my parents swear by The King Cupcake inspired by Elvis Presley that includes banana custard, peanut butter frosting, and candied bacon.
Even though the Pop Century resort is large, it is easy to navigate. I have never felt like our room is far from the buses, the food court, or the pool. The resort is separated into different decades including the 50s, 60s, 70s, 80s, and 90s. Each decade has its own theming based on what was popular during that time frame. The resort sits across the lake from the Art of Animation Resort.
What is your favorite resort to stay at on Disney World? Or do you stay off-site?

Sorry to hear you’ve not had the greatest of experiences with the hotel recently, certainly sounds like they were great in the past. Thanks for this post, planning to take my son hopefully next year x

I know it was my go to place – I hoping for results like my first couple trips next time.

My favorite thing from the Pop Century food court (besides the King Cupcake) is the Tomato Basil Soup. Whenever I come back late from the parks hungry but don’t want a big meal, it’s the perfect snack!

It’s been so long since I’ve been to Disney I can’t even remember where I stayed. I do remember the great Disney cruise, though. So fun. Can’t wait to do it again.

We love Disney Cruises! Our favorite was our Alaskan cruise on the Disney Wonder!

I never stayed at the Pop Century Resort. Usually we stay off Disney property to stay somewhere cheaper. This hotel reminds me of the Nick Hotel. Only Disney hotel I ever stayed in was the Swan and I was a teenager during that time. I promised my girls that someday we will stay on Disney’s property.

I do love the benefits of staying on Disney and being surround in the magic. But I agree with it being cheaper to stay off.
