Now that spring has hit, we love to spend more time outside as a family. In fact, April is one of the best months in Louisiana to be outdoors hiking, going for a bike ride, visiting the zoo, attending a festival and/or starting the summer garden.
One of our favorite ways to play outside is by making Bubble Snakes, it is fun for the whole family! We have contests to see who can get the longest snake and love running through the bubbles destroying/chasing them. These are the moments that your children will remember!
In order to make Bubble Snakes you can use items that you already have on hand. During our outdoor fun, it’s inevitable that someone is going to wind up getting dirty! The only detergent my family uses is all® fresh clean Essentials™! It allows you to let kids be kids!
I was so excited to learn that there is a new detergent available today on Amazon.com: all® fresh clean Essentials™ in both Fragrance Free and Fresh Scent. You know what is so great about the new all® fresh clean Essentials™? It’s sulfate free! It’s the same great powerful clean that preserves the color of your clothes without the harshness. Tip: Be sure to follow the directions on the back of the package exactly.
How to Make a Bubble Snake
- To make your own bubble snakes take a single serving plastic bottle (like a bottle of water or soda) and clean it.
- Then being very careful, cut the bottom of the bottle off using scissors.
- Use an old sock (this is a great project to use up those socks that seem to have lost their pair) that has been cleaned preferably with all® fresh clean Essentials™ and pull it onto the cut bottom of the bottle. You can secure the sock with duck tape or packing tape, however I just folded my sock over and it was snug enough to stay on.
- Stick the end of the bottle with the sock on it into bubble solution, pull the bottle out and blow into the neck end of the bottle to create a bubble snake. *Be sure to only blow out and not in or you will get a mouth full of bubble solution.
- You can also make your bubble solution with 1/2 tablespoon dish soap and 1/2 cup of water.
- A long chain of bubbles will come out of the sock end of the bottle. Note: If it is really windy out your bubble snake could blow off more frequently resulting in smaller ‘snakes’.
What is your favorite way to spend time outside as a family? Are you excited for the new all® fresh clean Essentials™?

Wish you had put the amounts of water and soap.
mybigfathappylife says
Thank you Mandy for pointing this out. The first time I just added water and dish soap to the bowl, but I just went back and measure – 1/2 cup water + 1/2 tablespoon of dish soap worked perfectly. I’ve updated the directions above too! Thanks again.

This is way simpler than I thought it would be, so we are definitely going to try it. I also think my boys will like it because it looks like it’s easier to blow bubbles successfully this way (maybe I’m wrong).
mybigfathappylife says
I hope your boys enjoy! It is easy to blow the bubbles just be sure they blow out and not in or they will get a mouth full of bubbles.
