Disclosure: My family attended a media preview of the new SpongeBob SubPants Adventure at Moody Gardens including one night hotel and attraction tickets. I was not asked to post about the Moody Gardens Hotel but I wanted to share.
My family spent two nights at the Moody Gardens Hotel which is conveniently located in Galveston, Texas. Moody Garden attractions are within easy walking distance from the hotel. In addition, Schlitterbahn Waterpark is located just across the parking lot from the hotel. Additional activities including the beach, dining options or other area attractions are all a short drive away.
Check-In
When we arrived at Moody Gardens Hotel we pulled up to the front of the hotel and parked as directed by valet for check-in. The check-in process was quick and easy, however the customer service representative did not tell us where our room was located until we asked. Be sure to ask because the hotel is very large.
Parking
There are several parking lots located around the outside of the hotel, however there is also a parking garage under the hotel with an elevator you can take up to your room which makes unloading luggage much easier. The parking garage is another thing that we were not told about even after asking multiple hotel employees where to park. If you would like to park in the garage turn right out of the front of the hotel, turn right again at the end of the building and then turn right after the second speed bump and enter the garage.
Our Room
When we arrived at our room we were greeted by a beautiful mint door. Our room was located in the North Tower, which means when coming up from the lobby we had to change elevators on the second floor. It was quite the walk from the main area of the hotel, however it was very quiet and we had a beautiful view.
The inside of our room was gorgeous with a pale blue, green and white color scheme. We had two queen beds with a dresser, desk and two arm chairs. Our room was a good size with plenty of room for the three of us. The hotel has free Wi-Fi throughout.
The room was equipped with a coffee maker, toiletries and area magazines. Our room also had a mini refrigerator, which comes in handy during the hot summer months to have an ice cold water. However, the bathroom did not have a fan.
The hotel offers evening turn down service including chocolates on your pillow, filling up the ice bucket and turning down the beds. Our first night, the maid knocked on the door right after 8:00 pm, so if you have kids that go to bed early you may want to put out the ‘do not disturb’ hang tag.
Pool
There are two heated swimming pools; one inside and one outside. The outdoor pool is huge with a bridge + waterfall, swim up pool bar and even an island of palm trees. We loved the outdoor pool and spent time each afternoon before dinner lazing around it. Towels are provided pool side and there are plenty of lounge chairs to soak up the sun. The indoor pool is a lap pool with two lanes.
Dining Options
There are several dining options available at the hotel including Shearn’s Seafood and Prime Steaks, Cafe in the Park and Moody Brews. Shearn’s Seafood and Prime Steaks is an upscale restaurant with a dress code. It has received AAA’s Four Diamond Award of Excellence every year since 2004.
Cafe in the Park is a casual sit-down restaurant. We had dinner in the cafe one night and wished we would have eaten more meals here. Our waitress was nice and friendly and the food was excellent. During our visit, one child under the age of 12 ate free with one adult entree.
Moody Brews offers Starbucks along with grab and go items. The hotel also offers room service, a lobby bar and Blossoms, a snack bar, which was not open during our trip.

I haven’t been to Galveston in years! We stayed with my aunt and uncle at the time. My uncle moved away some years ago but if I went there again, the place looks very nice with the lovely rooms and of course the pool. Galveston really is a nice place to visit. We had gone to an aquarium park back then, not sure if it is still there but if it is, it is a nice touristy spot.
mybigfathappylife says
I agree Galveston is a great vacation spot. The aquarium park was probably Sea Arama Marineworld, however they closed in 1990.

Love it! It is so bright and cheery! I’ve been there for a conference, but I didn’t stay in the hotel. I love it! =)

I love the decor colors, for some reason it reminds me of beach color. I can see myself really enjoying this hotel but I wish they had a fan in the bathroom.
mybigfathappylife says
I dislike no fan in the bathroom so very hard to get ready after a shower! But I loved the colors!
