I love making paper snowflakes and had forgot how fun it is to open up the snowflakes and see what design you created. One day when S needed a project, we started making paper snowflake. I under anticipated how much fun S would have. She spent two hours cutting out paper snowflakes. I would fold the paper for S and she would go to town cutting out little bits. She did excellent and never once cut through the snowflake.
We had a HUGE mess after S was finished with all the little paper bits but a quick vacuum took care of it all.
S kept asking in the days and even weeks that followed to cut more paper snowflakes and every time we would pull out the paper and she would work on them.
I found that tissue paper was the easiest for her to cut, since once you folded it up it was not as thick as regular paper. I used tissue paper that I had gotten 70% off at the end of the Christmas season the year before. We hardly made a dent in the package, so there is plenty for next week, month or year or all of the above.
So what to do with all those snowflakes? Well I decided to tape a bunch of them together and make a tablecloth out of them for our Hot Chocolate Bar this year. I know that S loves it when I acknowledge her creative side – like hanging her paintings up or displaying her snowflakes on Christmas morning. You can see how I assemble our Hot Chocolate Bar here.
Happy cutting!
Have you made paper snowflakes with your children?

She did a fantastic job on those snowflakes! And I like how you displayed them as a tablecover for your hot cocoa bar. Great use of those pretty flakes. Now, if only I could see some real snow. 🙂 It was 72 here yesterday.
You are much warmer than us…I think our high was in the 40s today. S keeps asking to go and see snow! I guess I am going to have to take her on a trip 🙂
oh my gosh, these are adorable! can’t wait to try! 🙂
Thank you Jennifer!
I love paper snowflakes, and I have to admit that sometime I make snowflakes out of cheese slices or bologna slices hahahahahah
That’s too funny Nicole!
Awww an amazing project! Every snowflake is unique! #magicmoments
That’s so true Merlinda! Thanks for stopping by!
So fun and creative! I can’t wait to do this with my kids, especially since Christmas is over and all the decoration are down. Plus, great way to decorate for a Frozen Party or hot coco bar is genius!
To use for a Frozen party would be awesome! Thank you Sarah!
What a perfect a tablecloth that makes. I’ve only strung them up like paper chains before but I love this idea. Happy New Year to you #MagicMoments

thank you so much!
My girls love making paper snowflakes. They normally have me tape them to their windows.
They are so fun to make!
Love that you made a big tablecloth with your snowflakes! Great idea!
Thank you Elaine!
I made a million as a kid, but I couldn’t remember how to this year! My kids love making them.
They are so much fun! It took a little folding practice for me to remember 🙂
I love your idea to use them for a hot chocolate bar! What an easy and fun way to decorate.
Thank you Hannah!
I just love how you used the snowflakes as a table cover/decor! What a wonderful idea! We spent Christmas in our RV this year and the decorations were minimal. You have to keep things simple in a small space! But, I did manage to make some snowflakes to hang in our windows. They didn’t take up any space and were so pretty. And, then they went into the recycling so I didn’t even need to store them away in my limited storage areas! I wish I had seen your idea earlier and I could have made a cover for our RV table, which also held our teeny tree! Next year!!-Sue
What a great idea to decorate your windows! It is the perfect decoration when you are short on space!
These look great and what a fab idea for a tablecloth. The Hot Chocolate bar looks very yummy…………….. #magicmoments
