Are you getting excited for the big football game? My family is! We always watch the big game with appetizers and a big pot of chili. Truthfully, I usually watch just for the commercials but this year our favorite team is in the playoffs! So the big game will be even more exciting if they make it all the way!
Funny story, a couple years ago we turned on the big game and S said can’t we watch this tomorrow? I said no, it’s not on tomorrow. The big game is only on once a year. She replied can’t we watch it next year then. But now, she enjoys the game too! Or maybe it’s all the food that she enjoys!
This year I decided to make Jalapeño Popper Dip. My husband and I love Jalapeño Poppers but they are so time-consuming to make! However, Jalapeño Popper Dip is easy and just as delicious! You can pair this dip with crackers of your choice or even sliced french bread.
Tip: When I deseed and dice up jalapeños I always wear a glove, at least on the hand that is touching the jalapeño. Why? Because even after I wash my hands with soap there’s still jalapeño juices on my hands and if I touch my eye – ohhhh the burn!
If you are looking for some easy DIY football props this post includes both a felt field table mat and directions on how to paint a jar to look like a referee.
- 2 large jalapeño peppers, deseeded and diced
- 8 oz. cream cheese, softened
- 1/2 cup sour cream
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1/2 cup panko (bread crumbs)
- 1 tablespoon butter, melted
- crackers, french bread or chips
- Preheat the oven to 425° F.
- Combine softened cream cheese and sour cream until smooth.
- Stir in the cheddar cheese and jalapeños until combined.
- Add the mixture to a cast iron skillet or a small casserole dish.
- Stir together butter and panko until combined.
- Spread across the top of the dip.
- Bake for 15 minutes and if desired place under the broiler until the top of the panko is browned.
