When I was younger (in college), I use to drink TAZO® Chai concentrate every day! I loved the sweet and spicy flavor and it was my go to afternoon indulgence. Then I moved across the country and I am not sure what happened but somewhere along the way I stopped having my daily TAZO® Chai.
The flavor of the TAZO® Chai Latte is like taking an imaginary journey through exotic lands with sweet cinnamon and vanilla, fragrant cardamom and spicy ginger. That is one of the things that I love about TAZO® Chai Latte is that you can taste each individual flavor with every sip.
Did you know that chai is steeped in 5,000 years of Indian history!
My first sip of TAZO® Chai Latte K-Cup® Pods transported me back to college. The new TAZO® Chai Latte K-Cup® Pods are made from milk, tea leaves and spices. A positive, you can use your Keurig® to make your own cup of TAZO® Chai Latte. Start by emptying the sweetened dairy packet into a mug, place the K-Cup® pods into your Keurig® and brew using the 8oz water setting. Stir and enjoy! Every sip is rich and creamy with the perfect blend of spicy and sweet.
While you can have a cup of TAZO® Chai Latte at anytime during the day, I have been enjoying a cup of TAZO® Chai Latte in the afternoon along with a Jalapeño Jelly Crostini (recipe below) or two. It has been an excellent afternoon pick me up and snack to help me get through the rest of the day. I usually hit a slump right around 3pm, what about you?
Jalapeño Jelly Crostini
Padma Lakshmi’s life and family heritage has always included tea and chai. To celebrate the flavors of chai with TAZO®, she developed recipes that pair perfectly with a cup. There are several of her recipes that I cannot wait to try. You can find all the recipes that she developed here.
I took inspiration from Padma Lakshmi’s recipes and made Jalapeño Jelly Crostini to enjoy with my TAZO® Chai Latte. They are a flavorful blend of crunchy toast, cool and smooth cream cheese and mild/spicy jalapeños. To make, cut 1/2 inch slices from a banquette or french bread on a diagonal and brush each slice on both sides with olive oil Preheat the oven to 350°F and bake for 8-10 minutes or until the edges of the bread are golden brown. Turn the slices over half way through the baking time to evenly brown. Top each slice with 1-2 teaspoons softened cream cheese and 1-2 teaspoons jalapeño jelly.
Tip #1: You can make enough toasted banquettes for a couple days. Just store in an airtight container.
Tip #2: If your cream cheese is not softened, place the amount needed on a plate. Take a glass, fill it with hot water and let it sit for a minute. Then empty the glass, dry it and cover your cream cheese with the cup. In about a minute, your cream cheese should be softened.
