Did you know that you can make the newest fad food: Rolled Ice Cream at home for your family and friends? Thai Inspired this ice cream is made using only three ingredients + mix-ins.
If you have looked online lately you must have seen the latest trend that has taken the internet by storm: Rolled Ice Cream. The craze has started taking hold in American cities across the country. I am guilty of wanting to experience Rolled Ice Cream for myself, what about you?
What is it?
Rolled Ice Cream was created in Thailand about 10 years ago. It is runny milk/cream mixture that is poured onto a flat surface and add-ins are mixed in with the cream mixture. The mixture is spread out and as it freezes on the surface it is cut and rolled using a spatula. Several rolls are placed into a bowl and topped as you wish.
How Can You Make it Homemade?
One thing that is so awesome about this ice cream is its flexibility and adaptability. You can make your ice cream any flavor or with whatever mixins that you want. You are only limited to your imagination.
Just start with the base recipe: combine heavy cream, sweetened condensed milk, and salt in a bowl. Then pour the mixture onto a half-sheet pan (or multiple smaller sheet pans).
Sprinkle the mixture with your crushed mix-ins. Some options include sprinkles, crushed cookies, Nutella, or chopped fruit then stir your mix-ins in. We used crushed mint sandwich cookies for our ice cream.
Place the sheet pan flat into your freezer flat for a minimum of five hours.
Once the ice cream is frozen, use a scraper-like spatula to roll sections of the pan. Add the rolls to a bowl and top with your choice of toppings. Some ideas for toppings include chocolate or caramel sauce, fruit, marshmallows, whipped cream, or pieces of candy.
