My family and I recently returned from an amazing five-night cruise on the Disney Dream cruise ship. We visited Grand Cayman and Disney’s private island – Castaway Cay. I am sharing below everything that you need to know about sailing on the Disney Dream.
Staterooms
Designed with families in mind, Disney Cruise Line staterooms are equipped with plenty of storage space and feature artwork/decorative touches that celebrate iconic Disney animated films. Most staterooms feature a split bathroom which allows multiple people to get ready at the same time.
Main Dining
Enchanted Garden
Enchanted Garden is inspired by the gardens of Versailles and the ceiling changes colors throughout dinner. The restaurant offers a seasonal menu of flavors from around the world.
Animator’s Palate
Animator’s Palate offers a magical dinner centered around Disney animation and a unique show. Expect a fusion of Pacific Island foods, Asian cooking, and fresh California fare.
Royal Palace
Royal Palace is inspired by classic Disney princesses, including Cinderella, Snow White, Sleeping Beauty, and Belle. You will find a French-inspired menu and continental dishes here.
Quick Dining
Cabanas
Open for both Breakfast and Lunch this free-flowing (buffet) restaurant serves up delicious food at 10 diverse food stations. Breakfast includes made-to-order omelets, traditional hot breakfast dishes, muffins, fruit, and more. Lunch usually includes salads, soups, sandwiches, seafood, steak, and more. Don’t miss out on their delectable desserts.
Flo’s Cafe
Flo’s Cafe is inspired by Disney Pixar’s Cars. This outdoor eatery has three different food stations – Luigi’s Pizza, Tow Mater’s Grill, and Fillmore’s Favorites. With food such as burgers, chicken, pizza, salads, sandwiches, and fresh fruit.
Eye Scream Treats
Named after Mike Wazowski from Monster’s Inc, Eye Scream Treats is the spot to grab a selection of soft-serve ice cream. Flavors will rotate throughout your cruise.
Vanellope’s Sweets & Treats
At Vanellope’s Sweets & Treats, inspired by Disney’s Wreck-It Ralph, you can enjoy gelato, fresh waffle cones, baked treats, and more. Additional fees apply.
Shows/Theaters
Buena Vista Theatre
During your cruise, you will be able to catch first-run films inside Buena Vista Theatre.
Walt Disney Theater – Nightly Broadway-style Shows
Each evening in the Walt Disney Theater you can enjoy a show or live entertainment. There are Disney broadway-style shows and a variety of additional entertainment which could include movie premieres, comedy acts, magicians, live music, and more.
The following Broadway-Style Shows are currently on the Disney Dream:
- Disney’s Believe – a story of a family who comes together through the power of Disney magic
- Beauty and the Beast
- “The Golden Mickey’s” – a Hollywood-style award show
Onboard Activities
Miniature Golf
This Disney-themed miniature golf course features 9 holes and stars Goofy and his son, Max. There are two different difficulties for each hole and even quirky golf clubs – some crooked and bent.
Basketball Court
Goofy’s Sports Deck includes a basketball court for those wanting to play a little ball.
Digital Sports Simulators
Also on Goofy’s Sports Deck are virtual sports simulators that allow you to kick, swing, throw, and compete in Basketball, Football, Hockey, Golf, Soccer, and Baseball.
Midship Detective Agency
This self-paced interactive game puts your detective skills to the test. Visit the self-serve kiosk at the Midship Detective Agency to get debriefing instructions (Deck 5 near Bibbidi Bobbi Boutique) and to pick up your detective badge and casebook. You will then use your detective badge and casebook to unveil clues, rule out suspects, and ultimately solve your case. This adventure will take you around the ship to find clues hidden in 20 “enchanted” artworks. This game has several possible endings and multiple randomized events which allows you to have a different experience each time.
Pools/Water Activities
There are two main family pools on the Disney Dream – Donald’s Pool and Mickey’s Pool. There is also a small above-deck pool on Deck 12 forward called Funnel Puddle. For kids under age 3, Nemo’s Reef is a fun place water play area with fountains and splash pads.
AquaDuck
The AquaDuck is a “water coaster” that takes you up, down, around, and off the side of the ship through 765 feet of tubes on a 2 person raft. This exhilarating ride is not only fun but allows you to see the ship in a different way. Items that are not allowed on the ride include snorkel equipment or swim mask and loose items such as sunglasses, mobile phones, or cameras. To ride the AquaDuck you must be 42″ or taller and if under 7 years old must ride with someone 14 years of age or older. For single riders, you must be 54″ or taller and be 7 years or older.
Kids’ Clubs
Oceaneer Club and Lab is for children ages 3-12 with themed spaces and activities for children to participate in. Edge is for tweens to hang out with video games, music, and movies. Vibe is where teens are free to mingle in a loft-style lounge where karaoke and dance parties rule.
Lounges/Bars
D Lounge
This family-friendly lounge is the perfect spot to sing, dance, play games, and enjoy live entertainment together.
Vista Cafe
This Art-Deco-inspired cafe located off the atrium is a great spot to enjoy coffee or a pre- or post-dinner cocktail.
Bon Voyage
Located in the grand Atrium, this Art-Deco-inspired bar offers cocktails, coffees, juices, and soda.
Currents
This open-air bar perched high on Deck 13 offers fabulous views.
Pink: Wine and Champagne Bar
Designed to look like the inside of a Champagne bottle, Pink: Wine and Champagne Bar is an intimate space with glittering walls.
Pub 687
This contemporary sports bar has huge-flat screen TVs to view live broadcasts. This lounge also hosts activities, games, and competitions throughout the day.
Evolution
This trendy dance club offers family entertainment during the day including dance classes, bingo, and arts and crafts. At night, adults-only entertainment such as themed parties, comedy, and revues.
District Lounge
This relaxed piano bar with its cozy ambiance and futuristic design has entertainment and live music nightly.
Skyline
With views of the world’s most fascinating cities, you can sightsee right from your seat. Look closely and you may even find Mickey Mouse waving at you from a corner balcony in London!
Meridian
Situated between Palo and Remy, this indoor/outdoor lounge is the perfect spot for a pre-or post-dinner cocktail. Meridian overlooks the back of the ship with spectacular ocean-view seating.
Adult-Only Areas/Activities
Cove Cafe
Treat yourself to coffee, cocktails, and baked goods at Cove Café, an adults-only lounge. While the drinks are an additional fee, it is the perfect place to relax and read a book or magazine.
Quiet Cove Pool
This adults-only refuge features varying depths, including a 4-foot deep plunge pool and a 6-inch deep sunbathing pool with built-in loungers. You can also grab a drink at Cove Bar without even getting out of the pool.
Satellite Falls
Chill beneath a gentle rain curtain at Satellite Falls which provides a relaxing atmosphere on the top deck.
Palo Steakhouse
With a warm, tranquil atmosphere and spectacular ocean views, Palo Steakhouse offers a scrumptious selection of premium steaks and exquisite Italian dishes. The amazing brunch is also very popular at Palo Steakhouse and requires advance reservations. This restaurant requires a fee.
Remy’s
Serving fine-French cuisine, Remy, is the most luxurious dining experience onboard. Remy offers both dinner and brunch. This restaurant requires a fee or a la carte pricing.
Remy Dessert Experience
This 5-course dessert menu and coffee includes an in-depth discussion with the Executive Chef and Pastry Chef. This experience requires a fee.
Senses Spa and Fitness
A nature-inspired oasis, Senses Spa offers beauty treatments and a relaxing Rainforest complete with heated lounges, fountains, an aromatherapy steam room, a dry sauna, and a calming pool.
