Everything you need to know about flying internationally with the low fare airline Norwegian Air.
This past summer my family flew from Paris, France to Orlando, Florida on Norwegian Air’s 787 Dreamliner. The economy cabin has a 3-3-3 configuration with each seat having its own seatback entertainment system. We found the seats to be extremely comfortable with similar legroom to Southwest flights which is who we usually fly within the US.
Entertainment System
The entertainment system is free and has a mix of new and old movies along with a few TV shows. There are a few games that you can play and an inflight map that allows you to follow along during your flight. Each seat also has its own USB charging port which is AMAZING being able to keep my phone/tablet charged!
LowFare+
We booked LowFare+ tickets which means that we were allowed one onboard bag (55x40x23cm) plus a small personal item (25x33x20cm) that goes under the seat in front of you. The two items cannot weigh more than 10kg and they will be weighed when you check-in for your flight and be tagged as approved.
Also included in our airfare was one checked bag (250x79x112cm) per person and it could not weigh more than 20kg.
Food Onboard
On the flight, we received, included in our ticket type, a 3-course meal with the choice between two options, drink service, coffee or tea after our meal, and a light snack towards the end of our flight. Norwegian Air also offers kids meals and meals for those with dietary restrictions, however, those must be pre-booked.
If your ticket does not include a meal, you can preorder one ahead of time, however, they are pricey.
Also during the flight is the option to order food, snacks, and drinks from the snack bar. To order from the snack bar you make your selection directly from the touch screen of the in-flight entertainment system and pay by swiping your credit card. The crew will be right over with your order.
Jet Lag
The Norweigan Air 737 Dreamliner was designed to prevent, or lessen, the effects of jet lag. The fresh air filtration system, cabin pressure, and mood lighting all help to lessen the effects of jet lag. Even the windows were self-dimming versus having to open and close a blind.
Overall we enjoyed our flight on Norwegian Air’s 737 Dreamliner and cannot wait to book them again for a trip to/from Europe especially since they will now have two nonstop flights to Europe from Austin (London and Paris).
