Father’s Day is June 21st this year, which is right around the corner. I love to receive handmade gifts from my daughter for Mother’s Day, so I am going to assume that my husband will love one for Father’s Day too 🙂 I decided to have S make painted rock paperweights/art. My husband is an accountant and sits at his desk all day, so while he could use the rocks as paperweights I see them more likely as art in his office.
Step 1: Rock Hunting
Take a walk or look around your yard to find some rocks. They do not have to be huge rocks but you do not want them to be small either. Plus S loves going on hunts.
Step 2: Clean the Rocks
Next you will want to clean your rock(s) to ensure that the paint will stick.
Step 3: Paint
The best part: painting your rock! You can paint your rock any color(s) that you would like, any design or any pattern.
Step 4: Add Writing (optional)
I love saving handwriting piece from my daughter, especially as it keeps changing as she grows.
Step 5: Seal (optional)
Apply a coat of Mod Podge or clear coat to seal the paint.
A one of a kind piece of functional art!
Does your child usually make something for their father for Father’s Day?

My girls only make me something for Mother’s Day, I don’t know why they don’t make anything for Father’s Day.

A unique and thoughtful gift. Dads would surely appreciate the effort behind the gift and the beauty in the gift itself.
