This decadent Lava Cake is filled with gooey, melted chocolate surrounded by moist chocolate cake. It is the perfect dessert for an easy fancy dessert.
When I go on a Disney Cruise, I always order the Lava Cake from the dessert menu. It is one of my favorite desserts! I have always wanted to make Lava Cake at home so that I can enjoy this decadent dessert while not cruising.
This easy dessert is perfect for a romantic dinner, dinner with a friend, double or triple the recipe for a family dinner, or for a special occasion like an anniversary or Valentine’s Day.
The best part of Lava Cake is the ooey, gooey melted chocolate center of the cake surrounded by moist chocolate cake. You can top your Lava Cake with powdered sugar or serve it with a side of vanilla ice cream or whipped cream.
Easy Lava Cake
Start by coating the ramekins with nonstick spray. Then melt chocolate and butter in a bowl until smooth. Whisk in the sugar, vanilla, and eggs until 100% incorporated. Stir in the flour until just combined.
Then divide the batter between the two ramekins. Bake in the oven for twelve to fourteen minutes and then let them cool for two minutes. Carefully invert each ramekin onto a small plate and serve topped with powdered sugar, vanilla ice cream, or whipped cream. Your cake may not look completely cooked, however, you want the center to have that nice “lava” flow. Do not overbake your cakes.
