While we all have big goals in life, it’s the little goals that we should constantly be striving for in our day to day life. Instead of keeping these goals in our dreams or in our minds we need to remind ourselves of them so that they will come true. When you write our goals down they become tangible, are a reminder to work towards them and you are 42% more likely to complete your goal.
My daughter is entering second grade this year and I want to focus on teaching her to make SMART goals. SMART goals are goals that are specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, and are time bound. For example instead of saying I will read more books; you would say I will read 15 chapter books by the end of the month. This is a specific goal (read more chapter books) that is measurable (15 books), it is achievable (my daughter is a fast reader), it’s relevant (education focused) and it has a time limit (by the end of the month).
To help my daughter focus on setting goals and working towards achieving them, we made an interchangeable goal organizer where her goals can be swapped out for new ones as her goals are completed. Let’s get set for success and go beyond the basics!
DIY Goal Organizer
To make your own goal organizer, you will need a Scotch™ Thermal Laminator with Scotch™ Letter Size Thermal Lamination Pouches,, 3×3 Post-It® Notes, my free printable (linked below), a piece of cardstock, a pen and a clipboard (to hang on the wall).
Print off my free Goal List printable onto cardstock. You can use any color cardstock you would like.
Next, laminate your goal list organizer page using Scotch™ Thermal Laminator and Scotch™ Letter Size Thermal Lamination Pouches. Be sure to follow the directions on the package. I love using the laminator! It’s quick and easy!
Then it’s time to write down your six goals on the Post-It® Notes. Make sure to aim for SMART goals!
Next, add your Post-It® Notes to your laminated goal organizer, attach to your clipboard (if using) and hang your goals up in a spot that you will see them every day.
Now you have a reusable, goal organizer to help you get your goals out of your dreams and have them start becoming a reality.
You can find the supplies in the back to school section of the school, which should be located towards the front of the store. I loved all the color combinations and sizes of Post-It® Notes available as well as the various sizes of Scotch™ Thermal Lamination Pouches.
Let me know what back to school goals you have and what your favorite back to school supply is. Mine is definitely the Scotch™ Thermal Laminator.
