Decorating or dying Easter eggs is a must each year! While using the traditional dye with vinegar is fun especially plopping the egg in and seeing what color masterpiece you can create, we wanted to try some new ways to decorate this year.
Tip: We found fake eggs at Target in the Easter section and those eggs worked the best with the glitter eggs and monogram eggs because they were not damp from the fridge.
Tea Stain Easter Eggs
You can use a variety of different teas. We used two tea bags and about 1/2 cup of warm water in each cup. The longer you leave the egg in the tea the darker the color will be. When we liked the color we took the eggs out.
When you remove the egg from the tea, let it dry. My favorite place to leave eggs to dry is on the upside down egg carton.
I am loving the natural color of the tea stain Easter eggs. This may be my new favorite way to dye Easter eggs!
Glitter Easter Eggs
This one was definitely for S! She loves all things glitter, especially when she gets to play with the glitter. I poured some elmer’s glue onto a paper plate and gave S a paint brush to paint on her design. Then she sprinkled glitter over the glue. If you would like more than one color of glitter, continue adding glue and glitter until your egg is complete.
Monogram Easter Eggs
I keep seeing the dot dot monograms all over the place, so I thought it would be fun to do one on an Easter egg. I placed an “S” sticker on an egg and then using sharpie markers dotted around the monogram. The further away from the monogram S went the fewer amount of dots there were.
You could also dye the egg first before adding the monogram. Another idea is to place the S sticker on the egg and then paint around it.

Those are so cute! I’m not very creative when it comes to decorating Easter eggs, but I may have to try the Sharpie dotting technique this year. Thanks for sharing!
Thank you Margaret Anne!
I love alternative ways to decorate Easter eggs as opposed to the typical dye solution! These are so cute =)
Thank you so much Addie! And they were all easy!
Oh my goodness! I need these tips. Last year I totally forgot to dye eggs with my children.
Thanks Ashley! I hope your kids have fun this year.
These are great ideas for decorating! My kids love variety so I think we will be trying out some of these this coming week. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks Katrina! I hope your children have fun decorating eggs this week!
Can you really ever go wrong with glitter! Love the tea stained base.
No, glitter is always awesome!
I love the glitter eggs! Those are awesome. My little girl would love to do that, she is obsessed with glitter (which is probably why when the sun hits in just the right angle, every surface in my house sparkles).
I really like the tea-stained ones too, they kind of remind me of brown eggs.
I have the same problem Krista! A lot of the glitter comes from her princess dresses.
I love how delicate the tea-stained eggs are! So pretty.
I like the tea stained eggs, too. They are so pretty and natural looking. I no longer dye eggs the old fashioned way now that the kids are all grown. I well remember trying to remove that dye from my fingers and how much fun it was. All of S’s eggs are beautiful!
I agree Alli! If we use usual dye we do it on the patio – easier in case of spills.
This is awesome! I love these ideas. I think Hampton is a little young to work with eggs this year, but maybe next year!
Thank you Logan! He’ll have so much fun next year!
I love the monogrammed idea! Great ideas!
Thank you Lindsey! I hope you give it a try!
very creative and cool…I bought organic dyes, but love the idea of glitter…will have to do that with my guy.
Glitter is always a good idea! 🙂 I hope he has fun decorating eggs.
Aww these are lovely 🙂 you have gave me an idea to sharing with my daughter now!!

Thanks Claire! I hope you two have fun together!
I love that you let S just go at it all and decorate her eggs with her own style! We’re very into process art and crafts around here, too!
Thank you Lisa! She is so creative and I love to see what she comes up with!
These are so cute. Think i’l pull my twins in to decorate some too.
I hope they have fun!
