I remember when I was in elementary school making cinnamon applesauce ornaments for my mom for Christmas. Last year I decided to try making the same cinnamon applesauce ornaments with S.
They’re easy to make and only require a couple household ingredients. These ornaments maintain their cinnamon smell for years! I still have some small gingerbread men from when I was in elementary school and they still smell like cinnamon.
I love making these ornaments and they smell so good! I’ve got some I made a few years ago and when I’m unpacking my ornaments to decorate the tree, I get a whiff of them. They haven’t lost their smell at all. I need to make some more.
I love to pull these ornaments out every year! I am always amazed that they still smell so good.
I know this smells so good. My kids would try to eat it I would have to put it high up on the tree.
Definitely not for eating! But they do smell awesome!
This is such a cool craft project! I’ve never seen this before. Very creative.
Thank you Katherine! They are fun to make and smell so good!
Wait! You had a chance to make these lovely crafts in elementary school.
I was so deprived. I know the classroom smelled heavenly. These could be used outside of Christmas as potpourri.
So sorry! I love your idea of using them as potpourri! I am going to have to give that a try!
What a cool craft! I never heard of this and they didn’t do this with us when I was in school.
My girls would probably eat it before it is made, lol!
It is a lot of fun to make, but no eating it!
Wow this is so cool! I am always learning stuff here
This year we did a different type of tree so I am not sure if this ornament will work. But you can bet your sweet bottom dollar I am going to try!!
Thank you Nancy! It’s great that you can make an shape you want with the dough!
Now this is unique! I love all the different DIY ornaments.
Homemade ornaments are always so much fun!
I’ve made starfish ones like this before
They smell fabulous for a LONG time!
I love how long the smell lasts!
What a fun idea for ornaments- we love making homemade Christmas ornaments and decorations.
We enjoy the homemade ornaments too!
I’ve never heard of making this type of ornament – how clever! I can almost imagine how wonderful your house must smell after you unpack the ornaments year after year. Thanks for stopping by our Happy Holidays Link Party – be sure to join us again this week, beginning on Saturday at 7 pm ET.

Thank you so much!
I can’t decide if I want to hang these on the Christmas tree or just drop them in a cup of warm milk! I would love to try and make these since I’m addicted to the scent of apples and cinnamon. Thanks for inspiring me and sharing this wonderful idea!
They smell amazing! A great addition to your tree or place in a dish
