Is it raining or cold outside and your child is bouncing off the walls, what to do? Try building an indoor obstacle course.
I grabbed some blue painters tape and mapped out on the hard wood lines for S to walk on.
Then I laid out stuffed animals on the floor for S to jump over.
I placed a sheet over the backs of some chairs to create a tunnel for S to crawl through.
I used the Wii board as a place for S to jump up and then down from.
We had a basketball type section, where I put some painters tape on the floor to show S where to stand while she tossed a ball into a big blue bucket.
Our last section of the course was more painters tape on the hardwood to walk along.
At first S seemed a little timid to complete the obstacle course, but then she got excited and kept going through the course. She even insisted that I complete the course.
When I tried to pick up, S dragged all the stuffed animals back out to play some more.
Even a couple months later, S remembered the obstacle course and wanted me to place painters tape and stuffed animals on the floor for her.
How do you let your child burn off energy when you cannot go outside?
