*Photos taken 2011 and 2012, we were unable to attend last year’s Boo at the Zoo.
Does your zoo have a Halloween celebration? Our zoo has Boo at the Zoo, where children aged 12 and under get to trick or treat at numerous stations throughout the zoo. Boo at the Zoo at the Baton Rouge Zoo is being held October 18, 19, 25 and 26th this year.
Admission to this special event is only the regular admission rate and if you have a zoo membership Boo at the Zoo is no extra cost…that means free trick or treating in a safe environment. There is even an exclusive members line that is a shorter wait to get through the gates.
Our Boo at the Zoo is always very popular, so I recommend arriving early (before the zoo opens). At the ticket booth each child will be given a card indicating all the trick or treating stations (each child can only visit each station once).
We always go opposite of the crowd to the left instead of to the right. This allows us to hit more than 1/2 of the trick or treating stations with no wait. Usually the remaining trick or treat stations have minimal wait, but if we see a really long line my husband will go stand in it while S and I hit another station and then move on to where my husband is.
After we hit all the trick or treating stations, then we go back and take pictures with the Halloween decorations and visit any animals my daughter wants to see.
And always the best part is eating the candy! Even though this event is very popular, we always have a good time and it is one of my daughter’s favorite fall event.
What is your child’s favorite fall activity or event?

Look at how cute S is as a bee and fairy! Atlanta has Boo at the Zoo too but the girls and I haven’t gone to it yet, just during regular days. But I need to try and go this year. The girls and I love going to Fall Festivals during the Fall months, they’re so much fun!
You should take the girls! I am sure the Atlanta Zoo’s is awesome!
She looks like she had so much fun!
Thank you Nicole, she always does!
The zoo is always fun, but Boo at the Zoo sounds like a blast! I haven’t been to our local zoo in the fall, but their Christmas display of lights is wonderful, complete with faux snow stations.
Wow faux snow! How awesome! Our zoo has Zoo Lights too, which we always go to, but no snow 🙁
I’ve never been to a boo at the zoo event, but it sounds like so much fun! Even though I don’t have kids, I love going to the zoo! It’s always a lot of fun.
We love the zoo too! We go several times a year to get the most out of our membership!
Her costumes are so cute!! Halloween with babies is the best!
Yes, it is! Always love seeing all the kids dressed up.
Boo at the Zoo is such a fun idea! We don’t live close enough to Atlanta to go to theirs but I have heard good things about it. S looks like she had a wonderful time. I love Fall photos!
It’s such a nice safe environment for trick or treating!
First off, you have a precious daughter and how adorable is her bubble bee costume?! I love the concept of Boo at the Zoo. I’m from Columbus, OH where we have one of the best Zoo’s in the country thanks to Jack Hana! Unfortunately, we have relocated to Charlotte and there is no Zoo near by. Hoping one day we can go as a family, and when we do I will definitely use your strategy! You’re smart, especially when you have young children that get tired very quickly. Thanks for sharing!
That’s too bad that you are so far from a zoo! We always love visiting ours multiple times a year
super cute costume! she looks like she had a blast 😀
It’s always so much fun!
I miss being a little kid and trick or treating! Fun!
I know, right? They should let adults trick or treat! 🙂
I love your daughter’s costumes–she’s adorable! 🙂 I wish we had a zoo closer so we could do something like this, but alas, the nearest one is 2 hours away. 🙁
Thanks Natalie! How sad that the nearest zoo is so far away!
She is adorable! Here in Texas we have Boo at the Zoo and we go every once in awhile. My kids always love it. We get to see the animals and get a ton of candy.
Always a win-win, Stephanie!
They have something like this at the zoo here in Atlanta! I really have to take my son. Looks like you guys had a good time!
A couple people have mentioned the Atlanta one, I sure their’s is awesome!
Aw she looks like she had so much fun!
Yes, always a blast!
Sounds like a great time, I love all your helpful tips. We have boo at the zoo here in NYC too but I haven’t been in a few years.
It is Lilith! I bet NYC’s is wonderful!
Those are some gorgeous pictures!! 🙂 I love going to the zoo

Thank you Tanya!
Boo at the Zoo is a fab idea, don’t think anywhere around us does anything like that, S looked like she really enjoyed those two trips and I’m sure she’s super excited to have the chance to go again this year! Thanks for linking up on Country Kids.
Thank you Fiona! She excited to go tomorrow!
