On our trip to Universal Orlando we spent some time enjoying the resort beyond Islands of Adventure and Universal Studios. There is so much to do without even being in the parks, so below are some ways to enjoy a relax day or maybe even on your arrival/departure day. Don’t forget that there is always the resort’s pools to enjoy. They are amazing and by staying onsite you can visit all the hotel’s pools – the Hard Rock even has music piped into underwater!
Blue Man Group
If you read my Universal Orlando Bucket List or follow me on Instagram, you know that I was so excited for the Blue Man Group show. I have been wanting to see them for a long time. Without giving too much of the show away, you will join the Blue Men as they discover, engage and explore the world’s obsession with cutting-edge technology. The show was entertaining, we were laughing nonstop, it was a family friendly show and S loved it! I would definitely go and see the Blue Man Group again! Just be sure to bring ear plugs or safety ear muffs (like those used at a firing range) for children – the show is very loud!
Be sure to stay after the show to meet one of the Blue Men in the lobby. They meet along the wall that leads to the theater and they came out really quick after the show.
CityWalk
CityWalk was where S had her first taste of sushi, while my husband and I munched on Mexican food after the Blue Man Group show. I loved that CityWalk was an easy walk ~10 minutes or a quick water taxi ride from our hotel, the Loews Royal Pacific Resort. There were so many dining options and we had a wonderful dinner at Vivo Italian Kitchen and S must have agreed because she ate her whole dinner which she never does!
There is more to CityWalk than just dining! You can see a movie, play mini golf or catch some live music. Plus if you are wanting to spend some time shopping they have you covered from stylish apparel to fun souvenirs.
Wet ‘n Wild
Wet ‘n Wild was so much fun! S loved it and still talks about how much fun she had and that she wants to go back. Unfortunately, Wet ‘n Wild will be closing at the end of 2016 to make room for Universal Orlando’s newest water park Volcano Bay! Wet ‘n Wild is an easy to navigate water park with both big, intense rides and family friendly attractions. Some of our favorites included the Surf Lagoon (wave pool), Aqua Drag Racers and Blastaway Beach, where water is EVERYWHERE! Blastaway Beach is perfect for younger children who are unsure of the bigger rides, there are small and medium slides in this area with lots of places to climb.
What is your favorite way to spend time outside of Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure?
