S has been learning her ABCs and to quiz her on recognizing the letters we created an alphabet soup.
We took all of our plastic magnetic letters (we also used the numbers) and placed them in our water table full of water.
Using a slotted spoon S fished out the letters one by one. Then she told me what letter she had pulled out. S had lots of fun scooping out the letters.
This allowed her to practice letter recognition in a fun way. It also let me observe which letters she still struggles with so that we can review them more.
This was a simple activity that was minimal to setup. You could also do this activity in the bathtub or in a small bin inside.
What are some fun ways that you practice the alphabet and letter recognition with your child?
I love this idea. Can’t wait for my toddler to be old enough to do this. Pinning for he future
Thanks MJ!
Great idea especially for learners who are visual and kinesthetic! I love to see parents who help their children learn and don’t just depend on teachers to do all the hard work. Kudos to you!

Thank you Brittany!
What a fun way to reinforce the alphabet! Now the ABC song is in my head. 🙂
Oh I hate when songs get stuck in my head 😉
This is awesome! It’s good to keep learning fun for kids 🙂

Love love love it! My littles are too young for the learning the letters bit but they will still have a blast fishing for letters. We are so doing this tomorrow! #supermommyclub
Fun in water sounds like a perfect time!
What a fab ideal #Countrykids
Thank you.
We usually just write but one quirky way for us are stickers! We would use them to do his traffic signs drawings (which is what he is obsessed of). #countrykids
Ooh stickers are always a favorite around here!
A fun learning activity and with water too, thanks for linking up and sharing with Country Kids.
I love this! We’ll definitely be trying it in the tub or sink!
I hope your kids enjoy!
