Do you like chicken? Yes! What about waffles? I love them! Have you ever combined the two? A delicious southern comfort dish of crispy chicken and waffles is a fun and easy dinner for the whole family. An incredible combination of sweet and savory.
I love to make dinner for my family, but I like to take shortcuts so that I spend more time with my family than in the kitchen. For my Chicken and Waffles with Orange Honey Sauce recipe, I use Kellogg’s® Eggo® Homestyle Waffles because they are just like the ones you make at home including being made with a waffle iron.
Great news! Kellogg’s® Eggo® Waffles now have colors and flavors from natural sources. As a mom, I like knowing that I am serving my family food made with colors and flavors from natural sources.
I have to admit that Kellogg’s® Eggo® Homestyle and Kellogg’s® Eggo®Buttermilk Waffles have been one of my go-to breakfast items. It was my favorite breakfast when I worked outside the house. I would eat a Kellogg’s® Eggo® Homestyle Waffle straight from the toaster before leaving the house every day. While I do not work outside the home anymore, you will still find them in my freezer because of my family’s love of Chicken and Waffles.
To make Chicken and Waffles, start by making the orange honey sauce using orange marmalade, honey and dijon mustard first. Then, make the homemade oven baked chicken and bake. Next, toast the Kellogg’s® Eggo® Homestyle Waffles. Last, assemble your dinner using Kellogg’s® Eggo® Homestyle Waffle, chicken, mixed greens and orange honey sauce. If you want you can top with an additional waffle.
Ingredients
- 1 1/2 pounds chicken tenders, cut in half
- 2 eggs, lightly beaten
- 1 cup Panko crumbs
- ½ cup flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- ½ teaspoon garlic powder
- ¼ teaspoon ground pepper
- 1/2 cup orange preserves/marmalade
- 1/4 cup honey
- 2 Tablespoons dijon mustard
- Kellogg's® Eggo® Homestyle Waffles
- Mixed lettuce
Instructions
- In a low dish, combine flour, salt, pepper, paprika and garlic powder. Slightly beat 2 eggs in another low dish. In a re-sealable plastic bag, place the Panko.
- Piece by piece place the chicken tender in the flour covering all sides.
- Then, dredge the chicken in the eggs. Next, place the chicken into the Panko. When half the pieces of chicken are in the re-sealable bag, close the bag and shake until the tenders are coated.
- Place the tenders on a baking sheet. Repeat for the remaining pieces.
- Let chicken rest for 10 minutes before placing in the oven this helps attach the coating to the chicken.
- Bake for 15 minutes at 425 degrees. Then, flip your chicken tenders and bake an additional 5-8 minutes.
- Next, place your chicken under the broil until they turn as brown as you want them. <-- Be sure to watch them because they will burn quickly
- Combine all ingredients.
- Toast Kellogg's® Eggo® Homestyle Waffles.
- Layer Kellogg's® Eggo® Homestyle Waffle, mixed lettuce, chicken tender cut in half, Orange Honey Sauce and another Kellogg's® Eggo® Homestyle Waffle.

I have never tried chicken and waffles before, but I have heard it’s good. You really do make it sound easy to do! My son is pretty picky but the one thing he eats is chicken and waffles. Wonder if he would try it together.

I’ve actually don’t think I’ve ever had chicken and waffles. I like the spin on this classic recipe. An orange sauce instead of maple syrup sounds delicious.
