One of my favorite ways to spend time with my daughter is to have her help me in the kitchen. I was so excited to see that Pillsbury™ now offers baking mixes to create Girl Scout Cookie™ inspired flavors. I was a Girl Scout when I was little and being a Girl Scout helped build confidence, courage and character in me.
By letting my daughter help in the kitchen, I am encouraging her and building her confidence. What she doesn’t know is that while she is having fun making cookies, brownies, cupcakes and more she is also learning how to read, how to follow directions, doing math, how to problem solve and how to give those bake goods away to others.
It can be hard to have your child take the lead in the kitchen between the messes that they might make to how they might do things differently than you. However by guiding them but letting them take the lead they will learn it’s okay to make a mess and then clean it up and they have the confidence from your trust.
While my daughter was making the Girl Scout Cookie™ baking mixes, she told me that she couldn’t break the egg. I let her know that I thought she could and stepped her through the process. Not only did she break the egg, but she also did not get any eggshell in the mix. That is a memory that we will also remember thanks to Pillsbury™ Girl Scout™ Baking Mixes.
While we gave most of our treats away to family and friends, I had to taste test them first. Not only are the Girl Scouts® Caramel & Coconut Blondie Mix delicious, but it was easy to use and the end result was beautiful too.
Do you have any tips for having kids help in the kitchen? Have you tried Pillsbury™ Girl Scout™ Baking Mixes?

I love having Monkey Boy help out in the kitchen. Well, sometimes it’s rough, but he is 3 afterall! More importantly, he loves being in the kitchen with me. He really loves helping cook or bake anything, often trying to take over all of the tasks, insisting, “No, let me do it!” or “I got it, I got it” or “Momma what can I do next?”. In so many ways it’s incredibly sweet and I do get a sense of pride knowing that I’m helping him to learn some lifelong skills! 🙂
