Do you have a camper or are thinking about buying one? Organization is key with small places! Yesterday, I shared tips on how I organize the undercarriage, bedroom and living room in my camper. Today I am focusing on the kitchen/dining room and bathroom.
Kitchen/Dining Room
All the shelfs in my kitchen are covered in non-stick drawer/shelf liner to help prevent items from sliding during travel (my glasses still tend to fall over, but everything else stays put).
I have a nice large pantry, however it only has two shelves with lots of space above the food, so I placed two folding wire shelves (one on each shelf) for extra storage. I usually place lightweight items on the shelves like bread, buns and chips.
I placed stackable plastic baskets in the cabinet below my daughter’s wardrobe. These baskets hold washcloths for both the bathroom and kitchen, hand towels and dish towels for the kitchen, pot holders and tablecloths. The baskets are great because you can pull them out to get what you need and keeps everything organized. There is also room in front the baskets that I place a smaller basket that holds the dog leash and bags to pick up dog waste. I move this small basket onto our entertainment center once we are parked for easy access. My husband usually throws his keys in the small basket too.
The seats of my dining room table lift up for tons of extra storage. I usually place larger items down there to store while we are moving: coffee pot, metal tray and electric double burner (I like to use the electricity that I’m already paying for versus my propane tank, plus then I can cook outside with the grill and not have food smells inside). I have also placed plastic bins under the seats that I use to store smaller items and extra food.
Bathroom
With three of us taking showers in the camper, we have to have a place to hang our wet towels. So I put three large command hooks on the wall above our toilet, which has a large blank wall. I have also added two hooks inside my tub area to hold really wet clothing items like swimsuits, so that they will drip into the tub. I have a smaller decorative command hook above my bathroom sink to hold my hand towel.
I have a medicine cabinet above my sink that holds my makeup, our toothbrushes, mouth wash, hair brushes, etc. I use a combination of small bins and makeup bags to corral everything.
Under my bathroom sink is a cabinet that I have two pull out plastic bins. One I keep all of our shower items: shampoo, conditioner, face wash, razors, shaving cream, and extra bar soap. The other one holds feminine products, room spray, clothes pins, etc. Be careful when putting items below your sink because in my camper my plastic water lines are in the back.
Clean towels? I usually carry a couple sets of clean towels and I use the leftover bedding bags to hold them. The towels that I am going to use right away, get placed in one bag and put in the bottom of my bathtub. The other set (or two if it’s a long trip) are in another bedding bag stored behind my couch. Which is also where I store extra blankets.
I hope this list gives you some ideas of how to organize your camper! Happy camping!
