With all the things that my daughter does: school, art, reading, playing and staying active, sometimes she just needs downtime and time to unwind. She does not watch a lot of television and when she does it is usually something educational. Lately, she has been interested in playing our video games. While I give her a time limit, I do believe that some screen time is ok if not even good for her. It lets her know that it is ok to have fun, helps her learn strategy, problem solve and following directions.
We have always had Nintendo gaming systems even when I was little. I love that I can pass down some of the classic Nintendo games like Super Mario Brothers and Donkey Kong to S along with some new games including Nintendo Yo-kai Watch (I have a giveaway below to win your own copy).
While Yo-kai Watch has been a video game craze in Japan (and I can see why) this is the first time that it is available in the US. This game is only available for the Nintendo 2DS, 3DS and 3DSXL.
Are you curious what Yo-kai Watch is about? In the game, you are a boy or girl trying to rid your town of the mischievous Yo-kai with the help of good Yo-kai. You must find the mischievous Yo-kai, befriend them and build a team before battling with other Yo-kai. As you challenge Yo-kai you will be helping people in need of solving problems (like an argument with a friend or forgetting something important) which is more than likely being caused by the mischievous Yo-kai that are hiding.
This is more of an adventure game than a fighting game. Plus I love that the game requires you to read to know what is going on, therefore S is practicing reading in a fun way.
What does S think? She is loving exploring the town, befriending the Yo-kai and getting to rename them. S told me that her favorite part of the game is finding and seeing all the different Yo-kai. She has done really well with battling against the mischievous Yo-kai. She gets so excited when she wins a battle against them.
