We have loved camping in our camper! We have had many adventures, learned a lot and spent quality time together as a family. Our memories are priceless and we cannot wait to create new memories in new places. Below are reviews for some of the campgrounds we have stayed at in Mississippi.
Please note: We have a 2015 Salem Cruise Lite that is 26 feet long (30.5 feet with the tongue). This post will continue to be updated as we visit additional Mississippi campgrounds.
Grand Gulf Military Park near Port Gibson, Mississippi
This historic museum and park includes a campground. When you camp here you are within the park and can walk (or drive) to see all the historic buildings, museum and cemetery (your campground rate includes admission to all the sites within the park). If you want to have a campfire, you must choose a campsite on the upper portion which is up a steep hill (we had no problem pulling our camper up). There is also a small lake that you can fish (catch and release) but be sure to watch for snakes.
There was so much to explore at this campground and my daughter loved catching frogs, observing a snake skin and chasing fireflies.
When did we visit: June 2015
Would we visit again: yes
Campsite #18: back-in, was paved, but unlevel
Cell phone service (Sprint): yes
WIFI: no

Natchez State Park in Natchez, Mississippi
Just north of Natchez, Mississippi is the Natchez State Park. It has multiple campgrounds within this large park. While our campsite was near the lake/backed up to the lake, you could not see the lake from the campsite due to trees. The park was so large you had to drive to get to the playground, which was also full of litter. S asked if we could pick up all the litter, so instead of playing that’s just what we did!
There is a lot to do in Natchez including these favorites or the Natchez Trace Parkway. So if you are looking for a quiet spot to use a home base while you explore Natchez this may be the spot for you.
When did we visit: September 2015
Would we visit again: probably not
Campsite #42: back-in, blew a breaker, water spigot leaked and we ended up with a huge puddle between our two campsites
Cell phone service (Sprint): no
WIFI: no

These sound like great campgrounds! I’ll keep these in mind if we ever find ourselves that direction!
