When birthdays roll around, I love knowing that I have a card stash to pull from that does not leave me in panic mode. Hallmark makes it easy and inexpensive for me to fill up my card stash with their cards starting at 47 cents. That way I am never left in a bind and running to the store for a card! Plus, spending less money on cards means I can spend more money on a wonderful present or a delicious cake!
Creating a Card Stash
For my card stash, I like to keep everything in one place that I need for mailing a card to family and friends. Therefore, I like to keep my cards, stamps, return address labels and a pen all together in a cute container or basket since it’s going to sit out on my desk. I also like to have a sheet of paper listing everyone’s birthdays in my container. I will even go as far as printing out address labels for my recipients that way I don’t have to print each one individually or go and find an address to write on the envelope. These little steps makes it easier to mail a card when the time comes.
Stocking Up On Cards
My favorite place to stock up on birthday cards is at Walmart because they are the only retailer to carry Hallmark cards starting at 47 cents. During a regular shopping trip to Walmart, I can swing by the card section and pick out several cards at the same time and not break the bank.
With so many different options to choose from they have something for everyone on your list. I like to choose a variety of funny cards and cards that could work for anyone. Something that I really love is that the price of the card is not listed on the back like many other lines. Which means the person receiving the card will not know that you only spent 47 cents.
Excuse me while I go and eat some cake, which may be the best part about birthdays! The next time you are at Walmart be sure to check out the selection of Hallmark cards starting at 47 cents.
Do you have a card stash? Or do you visit the store and purchase one for each birthday?

Having a card stash is such a good idea! I’m always in panic mode for birthdays and holidays since I don’t ever remember to bring cards for everyone until everyone else starts handing theirs out. I need to do this!! 🙂

Thanks Natalie! I hope having a card stash helps you out!

This is such a smart idea. I always have trouble getting cards in time and having them shipped to Germany or Poland on time is usually a fail on my part. I think I will start hoarding cards 🙂
mybigfathappylife says
Thank you Nicole! I hope it helps you get cards mailed out 🙂

I buy boxes of multiple cards when I see one I like and I love picking up thank you cards at TJ Maxx they are so cute and always a reasonable price. I like the idea of keeping stamps and everything you need in same place. I will start doing that.

I REALLY need to do this. It’s on my list of things to get done sometime this year. Since we live so far away our family, we mail cards for just about everything.
mybigfathappylife says
I hope you are able to create a card stash for yourself Sarah!

I had no idea that Walmart carried 47 cent Hallmark cards! I am horrible at remembering to sent cards. I’m not a card person at all. If it’s not funny, I don’t read it. I admit it. But I have older family members that do appreciate cards. I need to this. Also, thank you for the round about reminder that I forgot to pick up Father’s Day cards today. lol.

Thank you Julie! I love not having to spend a ton on a card because many people look at it and throw away, but they are cute enough for those who keep their cards too.
