S loves to paint; well truthfully she loves all things arts and crafts. So when I asked her if she wanted to make Valentine’s Day cards using watercolors she jumped at the chance.
Supplies
White Cardstock
Watercolor Paints
Heart Punch or Scissors
Sentiment Stamp
Glue/Foam Dots
Pen
There really is no wrong way to make cards. S painted on the cardstock with the watercolors. She started out using only reds, pinks and purples but then moved onto other colors. When the painting was dry, S cut out a heart from white cardstock and then stamped a sentiment on it. She attached the heart using a foam dot so that it is slightly lifted off the painting. If you do not have foam dots, elmers glue or a glue stick would also work.
We used our watercolor cards for Valentine’s Day, but they would also be wonderful as thank you notes or birthday cards if you used different sentiments.
I love S’s note on the back that says “I love you as much as all the snowflakes in the world”. Me too sweetie!
Nothing says I love you as much as a card made by that special someone.

I love this! I already have all the told I need to do this with Hamp. Since it is raining today, this may be the perfect activity to keep him busy. π

Paris, I love this idea. My girls are in a Great Artist Program at school and this week they are learning about watercolors. I may have them do this at home before they practice at school to give them the opportunity to practice. Thank you for linking up at Snickerdoodle. I hope to see you next week!
mybigfathappylife says
That sounds like an awesome program. It’s nice to hear about schools that still promote art! I hope your girls have fun learning about watercolors!
