S loves to dress up in costumes. It’s not uncommon to find her dancing through the house as a butterfly or super hero or running around outside as a princess or fairy or even as a pirate at the store (yes, I am one of those moms – there are bigger battles to fight!). Dress up clothes can be expensive, so what is the best way to purchase them and save money….Halloween costumes on November 1st.
I always visit my local department stores (my favorite is Target) on the day after Halloween – November 1st when Halloween costumes are 50% off. I have even seen Target do a 50% cartwheel prior to Halloween when the selection is even better. Last year, I bought a variety of princess dresses for upcoming trips to Disney World and our Disney Cruise. They are not as elaborate as the Disney versions, however they cost a lot less and since kids grow so fast it is a nice alternative.
There are so many possibilities using your imagination with costumes. Your child could pretend to be a veterinarian and cure their stuffed animals or a chef making an amazing meal for you. The addition of a costume adds that little extra when playing.
Tips:
- Plan your trip to be at the store when they open for the best selection
- Look for 50% sales prior to Halloween for an even better selection
- Look for Disney costumes for upcoming visits to Disney World, Land or Cruise
I hope you have a wonderful Halloween…filled with lots of candy!
Do/did your children love to dress up?

My daughters play dress up all the time! We have kept a majority of their Halloween costumes and they play dress up with them throughout the year.

My daughters costumes are hanging in my closet, we rarely reuse them which is actually a shame. But I think that this years costume will always be reused 🙂

I was even able to get a costume 90% off this week! And may have picked up a couple bags of candy at 70% off (and it was the good stuff)! 🙂
