A wonderful annual tradition at Hollywood Studios at Disney World starts tonight – The Osborne Family Spectacle of Dancing Lights. The photos of this event are gorgeous but nothing compares to seeing the dancing lights in person. There are literally millions of Christmas lights that are synchronized to holiday music on the Streets of America.
How It Got Started
The Osborne Family Spectacle of Dancing Lights started out as a single home’s annual display. Each year, Jennings Osborne and his family would set up their collection of Christmas lights, which would be larger than the year before. In 1995, Walt Disney World became the permanent home of the Osborne family’s holiday light collection to continue on the annual tradition.
Details
The Osborne Family Spectacle of Dancing Lights will take place from November 7, 2014 to January 4, 2015. This event is included with standard park admission.
Frozen Holiday Premium Package
New this year is the Frozen Holiday Premium Package which is an additional cost ($89 for adults, $59 for children ages 3-9). The package includes reserved seating at “For the First Time in Forever: A Frozen Sing-Along Celebration”, reserved location to view the Osborne Family Spectacle of Dancing Lights, specialty alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, Frozen-themed desserts, a holiday lithograph and Frozen pin. To learn more about the Frozen Holiday Premium Package, check out Disney Worlds’ website here.
Glow with the Show Ears
Disney World started last year a program where guests could become a part of the shows by purchasing special ears. These Glow with the Show Ears glow in sync to a variety of activities at Disney World including The Osborne Family Spectacle of Dancing Lights.
Tips
- Plan to be at the entrance to the Streets of America prior to the start of the event. Every night there is a count down to the lights being turned on, which is always spectacle to see.
- It will be crowded. Be prepared, be patient and spend time taking in all the lights, music and snow.
- To control the crowds you must enter near Lights, Motors, Action and exit near Sci-Fi.
- Purchase a specialty drink or food item from one of the stands.
- Most importantly enjoy the magic of the holiday season.

I’m heading down to Orlando this weekend but unfortunately won’t be able to go to any amusement parks for this trip. I’m so sad I’m going to miss out on this event. 🙁

I can’t wait to take my hubby to see these! We’ve been meaning to go together for the last 3 years, but we’re making it a reality this year! We were at MK last night to see the Frozen castle light-up, and it was adorable! I’ll never outgrow Disney! <3

We are going in a couple weeks and I cannot wait to see the new Frozen castle light up show! Have fun on your trip!

I ran the Wine & Dine Half Marathon last year and running through these lights was the absolute BEST part of the entire course! It was amazingly beautiful, and we didn’t have to fight the crowds that are normally there. I was completely in awe!

That sounds awesome Amy!

Last year, I ran the Wine and Dine half marathon which runs through Hollywood Studios. Those lights were amazing! I didn’t realize there was a whole Holiday Event there. We ended up going to Disney’s Merry Merry Christmas instead. Maybe this year we’ll check this out. I know my girls’ would love to see Frozen too.
