Everything you need to know to have an amazing time at Avengers Campus at Disney California Adventure Park at Disneyland.
If you are heading to Disneyland Resort in California and have a Marvel fan in your group, I highly recommend spending time in Avengers Campus. You will want to allocate enough time to see the shows, ride the attractions, and meet as many characters as possible.
I am not going to lie – the main reason we stopped in Los Angeles on our way to New Zealand and Australia was to see Avengers Campus at Disney California Adventure Park because my daughter is a HUGE Marvel fan. We were hoping that she would get to meet Loki because she did not get to meet him on our Disney Marvel Day at Sea Cruise and is a huge fan – spoiler she did and it was everything I could have hoped it to be for her.
Below is everything you need to know about visiting the Avengers Campus at Disney California Adventure Park:
Rides
WEB SLINGERS: A Spider-Man Adventure
This ride is amazing! You are tasked with a mission to help Spider-Man capture rogue Spider-Bots in this interactive ride experience. It’s similar in interaction to Toy Story Midway Mania but on a trackless ride system like Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure.
Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: BREAKOUT
This Tower of Terror rethemed ride is so fun as you join Rocket on a mission to rescue the Guardians of the Galaxy from The Collector. We enjoyed the retheme better than the original, perhaps because we love Marvel.
Shows
The Amazing Spider-Man
In this show, Spider-Man tests new enhancements to his Spidey suit on top of the WEB SLINGERS: A Spider-Man Adventure building. This is a fun show to catch especially if you have Spider-Man fans in your group.
To really enjoy this show, I recommend arriving early since there is a very limited amount of space where you can stand to enjoy the show. This is because the walkway has to stay open and clear during the show. The show is also best viewed closer and more straight on.
Dr. Strange: Mysteries of the Mystic Arts
During this show, you get to learn from Dr. Strange and the secrets of the mystic arts and a special superhero makes an appearance to help out.
The show was fun, however, it is hard to see if you are towards the back because everyone stands and the ground is not sloped to allow for great viewing at the back.
Warriors of Wakanda: The Disciplines of the Dora Milaje
Recruits are invited to learn and train alongside General Okoye to become an ally of Wakanda. I always find it fun to watch the Warriors of Wakanda. The training happens in the courtyard area and it was viewable from several spots, however, the first show in the morning of our day was on the Avengers Headquarters. I think this happened due to rain the previous day/overnight but that’s just a guess.
Avengers Assemble!
To defend the Avengers Headquarters, Super Heros will have to spring into action during this action-packed battle.
All the action for this show happens in the Avengers Headquarters, so almost anywhere in the Avengers Campus where you can see the second floor while allowing you to enjoy the show. We saw this show several times from different spots because we were hanging out watching/waiting for characters.
Characters
There were so many Marvel characters around Avengers Campus that are available to meet, but some of that is all about timing and keeping your eyes open. The majority of the characters at Avengers Campus do not have specific meet and greet times just several hours span listed in the app, so you have to be around the area watching for characters to appear. Characters at Disney California Adventure Park (and at any Disney park) can change at any time and even day-to-day depending on availability and weather conditions.
Spider-Man
Spider-Man tends to meet in front of the graffiti wall in Avengers Campus. Although, we did spot him sneaking around the Avengers Campus and talking to other Marvel characters in the early afternoon.
Avengers Headquarters
There is a spot along the front of the Avengers Headquarters for characters to meet. We saw Ant-Man and Wasp in the morning and Iron Man in the afternoon at this spot. Also, characters randomly showed up on top of the Avengers Headquarters patrolling over the Avengers Campus.
Roaming Characters/Random Meet and Greets
There were quite a few roaming characters during our visit and characters that would appear randomly for meet and greets while staying in one spot. Some popular spots that the characters seemed to pop up at were in front of the Avengers truck, in and near the Ancient Sanctum, and on the pathway side of the Ancient Sanctum leading to Cars Land.
Dining
Shawarma Palace
You cannot go wrong with shawarma and we really enjoyed the chicken shawarma wrap with garlic spread and creamy yogurt-tahini sauce as our last meal at Disneyland before heading to the airport. The stand also offers a plant-based falafel wrap.
Pym Test Kitchen
At this quick-service eatery, you can grab breakfast, lunch, or dinner with size-defying food. Ant-Man and The Wasp team utilizes the shrink-and-grow technology of Pym Particles to change the sizes of food. We stopped by for the Calculated Breakfast = E x 2 + (B+P)/T which my daughter loved. Then we also tried the Impossibleā¢ Spoonful which is plant-based pasta with meatball which was good.
Terran Treats
Here The Collector has a weird (and delightful) menu of sweet eats – Cosmic Cream Orbs and Coco-Nutty Churros are just a few.
