When S was born I wanted to start family traditions that we would do year after year. I wanted some traditions that were more in-depth and ones that were simpler in nature. One of those that we started was the Eve of Christmas Eve.
On the evening of December 23rd, we turn on Christmas music, start a fire in the fireplace, make hot cocoa, grab some holiday cookies, spread a quilt on the floor and read Christmas books under the Christmas tree. Looking for a list of amazing Christmas books? Here are some of our favorite Christmas books.
This is a great way to spend time as a family. We get to snuggle together and be reminded of what the holiday season is all about: family!
What I love about this tradition is that it can be as simple as you want it to be or make it fancier with a hot chocolate bar or try Frozen Peppermint Mocha Hot Chocolate. The holiday treat in my photos above is Chocolate Toffee Crunch – you can find the recipe here.
As S gets older, I may add camping out under the Christmas tree. I think it would be really fun to wake up to the twinkling lights of the tree.
