Tips on how to make the perfect açaí bowls at home including topping suggestions.
Jump to RecipeI completely fell in love with açaí bowls while we were visiting Hawaii this spring (you can read about our trip here). One of the best things about açaí bowls is that you can switch out the toppings to what you have on hand or your favorite combinations. Decorating the top of the açaí bowls is definitely one of my favorite parts.
What is açaí?
Açaí berry is a fruit from a palm tree found in South America. Açaí berries contain antioxidants, fiber, and heart-healthy fats as well as other nutrients.
Toppings
You can top your açaí bowls with a variety of different toppings! One of the most common items is to use fresh fruit including berries, sliced banana, mango chunks, pineapple chunks, sliced kiwi, or any other fruit that you love. Other toppings could include chia pudding, granola, chia seeds, toasted coconut, peanut butter (or other nut butters), nuts/seeds, chocolate chips, or bee pollen.
