Brewing the perfect cup of French Press Coffee is easy and delicious!
Did you know that you can get the most delicious cup of coffee from a French Press? It might seem a little intimidating and more complicated than using a drip or Keurig machine, but it can be easy! I find French Press coffee to be much smoother than traditional coffee.
- Use fresh ground coffee – I grind the amount I need each time. If you don’t have a grinder you can use something similar to a magic bullet like a blender. Or purchase coffee from a grocery store where you can grind it at time of purchase.
- Use good quality coffee – I use beans that my parents picked up for me in Columbia during their Panama Canal Cruise. This coffee might be the best I’ve ever tasted.
- Details are important – From the temperature of the water to the time to brew the coffee while not complicated are important.
How to Brew
Use a ratio of 10 ounces of water to 2 teaspoons of fresh ground coffee.
The perfect temperature of water is just below boiling at 85*C
Place the grounds in the French Press and pour in enough water to cover the grounds. Stir with a wood or plastic utensil. Then pour in the remaining water.
Lower the plunger to the top of the water and let sit 3-5 minutes.
Slowly lower the plunger to the bottom and pour your coffee into a cup. Do not leave any coffee in the French Press because the coffee will become bitter the longer it sits with the grounds.
Add creamer, sugar, and/or flavoring to your taste.
Enjoy your delicious, smooth cup of French Brew coffee!
