This Game Day Marshmallow Popcorn is the perfect sweet and salty treat for watching a football game, tailgating, or just for fun!
We love football in our house and now that we’ve made it through the holidays it’s onto the playoffs and the BIG game! While we are loyal to our favorite football team, we still watch the playoffs and the big game even if they are not playing because it’s a family tradition!
With football games being about 3 hours long our family needs lots of snacks! One thing you can always find in my pantry is popcorn. Game Day Marshmallow Popcorn is a family favorite recipe and combines the salty and sweet taste that everyone loves. I enjoy making this recipe because I can make it ahead of time and spend game time actually watching the football game with family and friends.
Game Day Marshmallow Popcorn
Place popped popcorn and pretzels on a large baking sheet that has been lined with a parchment paper. Set aside.
In a saucepan, melt butter over medium heat and add brown sugar and corn syrup. Cook until melted and combined.
Then add marshmallows and stir until completely melted. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla, salt, and food coloring.
You can customize your popcorn to be your team colors or the team colors of those playing in the big game or neutral football colors like I did with green and white.
Evenly pour the marshmallow caramel mixture over the popcorn and pretzels. Stir until the popcorn and pretzels are well coated. It will be sticky! Stir in chocolate candies.
Game Day Marshmallow Popcorn can be stored in an airtight container for up to one week.
