I really enjoy writing a travel bucket list at the beginning of the year of everything I hope to accomplish that year. I love that a bucket list motivates me, gets me excited, and makes me feel accomplished at the end of the year.
Last year we visited the Carribean including Belize, Honduras, and Mexico, we visited Walt Disney World and Disneyland during the fall, we took a Very MerryTime Cruise with Disney Cruise Line and lots of central Texas exploration throughout the year. I cannot wait to see where 2019 takes us. Here’s a look at our travel bucket list for 2019:
Eastbound Transatlantic Cruise
Our big trip this year will be an eastbound transatlantic cruise on Disney Cruise Line. The cruise embarks from Miami with stops in the Azores; Lisbon, Portugal; Cadiz (Seville), Spain; Malaga, Spain; Cartegena, Spain; and disembarks in Barcelona, Spain. We are excited to add a couple of new countries to our list this trip! During the trip, we hope to:
- Marvel at the Tower of Belem and Sao Jorge Castle, try pasteis de nata (custard tarts) and ride 28 line tram in Lisbon, Portugal
- Visit Alcazar of Seville, Plaza de España, and Seville Cathedral (home to Christopher Columbus’ tomb) in Seville, Spain
- Admire the history of Roman, Muslim, and Catholic rulers while visiting Alcazaba (moorish castle), Gibralfaro (fortress), and the Roman Amphitheatre in Malaga, Spain
- Walk on the blue marble tiled “Paseo” in Cartegena, Spain
- Appreciate stunning Lagoa do Fogo (Fogo Lake) and Lagoa das Sete Cidades on São Miguel Island in the Azores
- See what all the talk is about at La Sagrada Familia in Barcelona, Spain
Paris, France
After our cruise, we will be spending a week in Paris, France exploring the city, visiting Disneyland Paris, and taking the train to Alsace. I have not visited Paris since I was a little girl, so I am really excited to discover the city with my family. S is most excited about Disneyland Paris and the Louvre.
- Sail a toy boat at Luxembourg Gardens
- See the Mona Lisa at the Lourve
- Take in the view of Paris from the top of the Eiffel Tower
- Enjoy a French pastry
- Recreate my Eiffel Tower photo
- Sit outside at a cafe in Paris and people watch
- Enjoy the magic at Disneyland Paris
- Take in the architecture at Notre Dame
- Explore ancestral roots in Alsace
Visit a ‘New to Us’ State
I still debating which state to visit maybe New Mexico, but I would really like to check another state or two off our list if we plan to visit all 50 states before S graduations from high school. You can find out more about this project here.
Central Texas
I really want to embark on lots of day trips to all the amazing small and big cities in Texas. There is so much to do and see locally!
