If you visit southern Florida, a trip to the Everglades is a must!
After our recent cruise instead of going straight to the airport, we decided to take one last excursion. We booked our excursion through Norwegian Cruise Line for an Everglades Airboat Tour with a drop off at the airport (either Miami or Ft. Lauderdale). It was a great experience and so much better than sitting around the airport until our late afternoon flight!
Our excursion took us to Everglades Safari Park which while it is inside Everglades National Park it is not operated by the NPS and is actually an authorized Everglades National Park concession.
The Everglades Safari Park offers:
- 30-40 minute Airboat Tour
- Wildlife Nature Show
- Jungle Trail, Observation Platform & Exhibits
During our visit, we had wonderful Airboat Tour guide, who educated us on the Everglades and its animals. We saw a couple alligators in the water/land along with several different birds.
After the Airboat Tour, we caught the wildlife nature show which included an up-close look at a snake, the guide in with a couple alligators educating us about them, and a look at a baby alligator. At the end of the show for a small donation, you could hold the baby alligator. Being able to hold the baby alligator was definitely the highlight of my daughter’s day!
We wandered the trails, browsed their gift shop, and enjoyed some ice cream before heading to the airport.
We really enjoyed being able to do something new to us, not spending hours sitting at the airport, and our luggage did travel with us under the bus.
If you are visiting the Everglades Safari Park on your own, you can purchase your tickets in advance online you will save $3.00 off each adult ticket.
