Some of the best tips for getting the most out of Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party at Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World.
*Updated for 2022
Does it seem silly to be talking about Halloween? But, guess what…the first Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party is August 12!
We have attended Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party at Disney’s Magic Kingdom a couple of times. The party is a hard ticket event which means you have to purchase a separate ticket to attend; you do not need a general admission ticket. The party will be held on 37 select nights in August, September, and October.
We have enjoyed every party that we have attended and thought the party was worth the cost of admission. The earlier in the season you attend the party the least busy it should be. Also, Friday night parties tend to be busier than other nights. Below are some tips to get the most out of your party time.

Tips for Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party
- The official hours of the Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party are from 7:00 pm to midnight, however, Disney starts allowing guests to enter the Magic Kingdom at 4:00 pm with a party ticket. Look for the specifically marked gates. Make sure to get your wristband and party map! One of the best times to attend the party is on your arrival day so that you do not have to use a regular park ticket, but still get to start the magic.
- Use the time before the party starts to ride rides, eat dinner, and even line up for some of the most popular characters. This way you do not waste your valuable party time.
- The second Mickey’s Boo-to-You parade is less busy than the first, however, we knew that our daughter was probably not going to last until the 2nd parade, we found a spot 15 minutes before the 1st parade started in the second row in Frontierland. It was not perfect, but my husband put my daughter up on his shoulders and she enjoyed waving to all the characters in the parade from her vantage point. If having a great spot to watch the parade is important to you secure your spot early. Prior to the parade starting, the headless horseman rides down the parade route.
- There are some characters that are only available for meet and greets during the party. In addition, some characters will sport Halloween costumes for the party.
- Enjoy some of the party-specific sweet and savory items: candy corn soft-serve, Halloween-inspired cupcakes and cookies, candy corn cotton candy, and more.
- Save trick-or-treating towards the end of the party so that you do not have to carry around the heavy candy. Even the adults can trick-or-treat.
And don’t forget the best part….everyone can dress up including children and adults. Be sure to check out Walt Disney World’s website for specific rules regarding costumes.

Oh my gosh, I want to go to this so badly! It’s one of the few things that I’ve never done at Disney. I wanted to go this year, but I’m not sure how much my 2 year old would get out of it, seeing as how she’s usually out like a light by 9:00 p.m. You’ve made me excited to finally do this one day! 🙂

The party is a lot of fun! S’s first party she was two but we stretched her bedtime that night and if I remember correctly she fell asleep as we were leaving the park.
